Land and Houses Bank posted the highest month-on-month lending growth of 3.72 per cent among nine listed banks, while Tisco Bank showed the highest deposit growth of 14.78 per cent.

According to the reports of the nine banks to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on outstanding lending and deposits, LH Bank had lending in April of Bt60.96 billion, up by 3.72 per cent from March, followed by Bank of Ayudhya with 2.61-per-cent month-on-month lending growth.
LH Bank’s lending growth was driven largely by small and medium-sized enterprises, as the bank has increased this portfolio to increase yield.
Meanwhile, Bank of Ayudhya’s loan growth was driven by retail banking, especially instalment loans for vehicles. Kiatnakin Bank showed lending growth in April of 2.5 per cent, also due mainly to car loans.
The Motor Show in March was a key factor driving loans for banks that have hire-purchase as a main portfolio.
Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is among larger banks that reported high growth of 2.33 per cent. Auto loans strengthened growth in April apart from lending to corporate and SME customers.
Bangkok Bank posted the lowest lending growth in April at 0.13 per cent, as its main portfolio is corporate customers.
Deposits also showed continuing growth in April despite the surcharges on bills of exchange (B/Es) and deposits increasing to 0.47 per cent. Smaller banks were able to adjust their deposit portfolios despite the reduction of funding from B/Es.
Tisco Bank has the highest proportion of B/Es, but it showed the highest growth of deposits among the nine banks. It reported outstanding deposits of Bt193.41 billion in April, up by 14.78 per cent from March. B/Es are part of debts issued and borrowings, which were reduced to Bt137.12 billion from Bt149.94 billion in March.
LH Bank reported outstanding deposits of Bt28.49 billion, up by 11.03 per cent from March. Debt issued and borrowings in April dropped to Bt35.69 billion from Bt40.56 billion in March.
Kiatnakin Bank’s deposits in April grew by 8.41 per cent to Bt85.17 billion. However, debt issued and borrowings increased slightly to Bt95.94 billion from Bt91.16 billion in March.
SCB was among larger banks that showed high deposit growth, at 3.09 per cent. Bangkok Bank’s deposits grew by 0.81 per cent and Kasikornbank’s by 0.75 per cent month on month.
