Kingdom ready for Thailand Focus 2012

Indochina's bourses and listed companies will join executives from over 90 Thai listed companies at Thailand Focus 2012, set as the stage to further promote the Thai capital market to global institutional investors.

Hosted by the Stock Exchange of Thailand in cooperation with Phatra Securities and Bank of America Merill Lynch, the 2-day event is themed "Positioning Thailand for the Next Growth Phase".  Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong will deliver a keynote speech when the event starts on August 29.
SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira said that in the sixth year, Thailand Fous for the first time secures cooperation from bourses in Indochina.
"Executives of bourses and listed companies in Laos and Vietnam will for the first time join the conference, to further highlight the increasing growth prospects of Indochina," he said.
Thailand Focus has been the annual event where investors and listed companies convene. It has been the key stage to show global investors of investment opportunities in Thailand. At present, foreign investment accounts for one fourth of turnover.
Aphinant Klewpatinond, chief executive officer of Phatra Securities, said that the timing is right as global investors are monitoring Thailand's stimulus mesures for the economy and the capital market, to see how competitiveness could be enhanced to cope with emerging challenges.
To Brian J. Brille, chairman Asia Pacific at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Thailand is attractive in many ways, from high liquidity to diversity of investible industries. Its growth path has been among the top in Asean.
