Senators/TOT labour union petition against 3G auction

Ten senators and TOT's labour union on Monday filed separate petitions to the Auditor General's Office, asking for it to have the Administrative Court rule if the Oct 17 auction of the 2.1GHz spectrum is legal.

The senators led by Paiboon Nititawan siad that the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission's endorsement of the auction is likely to have breached the Constitution's Articles 47 (2) and 305 (2) and the Frenquency Act.
The Auditor General's Office promised to look into the matter as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the TOT's labour union also said in the petition that there could be collusion in the auction. Moreover, under the old concession, concessionaires are obliged to return all assets to the state, but NBTC has made no move on the asset transfer. It also questioned if the three bid winners are trying to develop the 3G service upon the existing telecom infrastructure.
