GS Bank president to be named this month

Government Savings Bank should be ready to name its new president this month, with three qualified candidates scheduled to reveal their vision to the board today.
Chairman Pannee Sathavarodom said the board’s approval for the nomination would be sought tomorrow. After that approval, negotiations on remuneration will be the next stage, before the bank asks for the Cabinet’s endorsement. The entire process should be completed this month.
The three candidates are Worawit Chalimpamontri, current president of Government Housing Bank; Thatchapol Kanchanakul, an executive of Government Savings Bank; and Chaovarat Chaochavanil, former executive of Thai Asset Management Corporation.
Pannee said the existing board had the power to proceed with the appointment even though its members’ terms ended in October. Their status remains without official notification of any change from the Finance Ministry.
