Annual event doles out 51 awards for Thailand's best blogs
This year's Thailand Blog Awards totalled 51 prizes to bloggers across 11 categories, plus a new slot for video blogs.
The annual awards were jointly hosted by Nation Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and three Thai weblogs: Bloggang.com, Exteen.com, and Oknation.net.
The winner of the new video category was blogger This Is My Way, who developed the “My Way My Style in Thailand” blog (http://youtu.be/VGEA8ki8ZGI).
The 11 main categories were business, knowledge, entertainment, home and decor, sport, health, family, recreation, hobbies, shopping and beauty, and science.
Siam Commercial Bank sponsored the prize for the winning business blog, a three-day package tour to Hong Kong for two people. The winner was iSalaryman (www.isalaryman.com).
There were three special categories this year. In the Feel Good Journey by DTAC category, the winner was Framekung.com, who developed “Korea’s Journey by Frame” at www.framekung.com/.
In the Sansiri Home & Decor Blog category, the winner was Wan-Nam with her blog at http://wan-nam.com/huahin-jul-2012/.
The third special prize was for Panasonic Beauty Best Review, and the winner was www.bloggang.com/mainblog.php?id=aiwa&month=16-08-2012&group=15&gblog=78.
During the three-month submission period for Thailand Blog Awards 2012, 1,442 blogs applied, 30 per cent more than last year.
“This year, the number of blogs increased by 300 from last year,” said Adisak Limparungpatanakij, president of NBC. “There were a total of 9,155 votes, which reflects that the popularity of blogging in Thailand is growing. This year, many blogs are newcomers.”
He said the Thailand Blog Awards aimed to encourage local Internet content development. This is the third year of this activity, with a lot more bloggers joining in the contest and a lot more people voting for their favourite blogs.
Seventy per cent of the scoring is from the judging committee and 30 per cent from voting.
