Total Access Communication (DTAC) said it was ready to provide services to all customers wishing to send New Year wishes to their loved ones. It has mobile units for signal enhancement in the top New Year countdown locations across the country. In addition, DTAC has upgraded its second- and third-generation networks nationwide. This means the quality and speed of transmission and receipt of messages and other content through social networks will be enhanced to support increased use of smart phones.
Darmp Sukontasap, DTAC chief corporate affairs officer, said that anticipating heavier use of mobile phones and message and content-related services during New Year celebrations, the company had increased connection capacity to ensure smooth and efficient services in areas where countdown events or public celebrations or gatherings are expected.
Advanced Info Service has also expanded its voice and data network capacity by 50 per cent from the normal period in areas where voice and data traffic is expected to be heavy, including the countdown locations. As a result, the AIS network can handle 32 million text messages and 400,000 multimedia messages per hour, the company says.
