The event, which takes place from May 23-25 at Halls 3 and 4 of the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre in Muang Thong Thani, will bring together electrical and industrial entrepreneurs from around the world and promote the use of LED (light-emitting diode) lighting to reduce global warming.
Egat governor Sutat Patmasiriwat said more than 500 international brands from over 200 companies would showcase cutting-edge LED products, while seminars and workshops would be held to promote the use of efficient LED lighting in Thailand.
Egat is very concerned about the critically high level of energy consumption in the Kingdom, he said, adding that national consumption stood at 26,423 megawatts. It is expected to reach 27,000MW by the end of next year.
To cope with this challenge, Egat has launched a “LED Lighting Campaign” this year to encourage all parties to play their part in reducing energy consumption, he said.
The first initiative under the project is Egat’s development and introduction of energy-efficiency label No 5 for LED lighting (MR 16 type). This labelling programme will soon be implemented, followed by other categories through to the end of next year.
This is expected to reduce electricity usage and contribute to a reduction in global warming, he added.
Gaurav Juneja, director of MEX Exhibitions, said the company expected to welcome to the event more than 8,000 visitors from the region.
