M-Kopa bags prize for sustainability

The Financial Times and IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, have disclosed the winners of the FT/IFC Sustainable Finance Awards, with M-KOPA of Kenya bagging the award for excellence in sustainable finance.
Banco Santander took the Sustainable Global Bank of the Year transaction prize and Impax Asset Management of the UK was recognised as Sustainable Investor of the Year.
The awards, now in their eighth year, have established themselves as the world’s leading awards for environmentally and socially responsible banking and investment.
This year’s awards attracted a record 254 entries from 164 financial institutions and 57 non-financial groups in 61 countries.
The awards were presented at a special dinner in London attended by around 200 senior decision-makers in finance and sustainability. Jim O’Neill, former chief economist and head of asset management at Goldman Sachs, was the keynote speaker at the dinner.
The event followed a one-day Sustainable Finance Conference organised by the Financial Times and IFC.

3 Honda apps
Honda has made HondaLink, an intelligent automobile application for smartphones, available in Thailand, along with the Honda Roadside Assistance and HondaLink Navigation applications.
Thailand is the first country in Asia where these apps are being released. Using smartphones, HondaLink’s diverse features make it faster and easier for customers to access detailed information about their vehicles and other services in a colourful, easy-to-understand and easy-to-use graphical display.
The three apps are available for free download from Apple app store and Google Play.
“Developing new applications such as this is part of our mission to create innovations that best suit customers’ digital-based lifestyles,” Pitak Pruittisarikorn, executive vice president of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co, said last week.
“HondaLink offers a value-added communications channel that bonds Honda with customers.”
