Chadchart assures bidding transparency

Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt said Wednesday that his ministry will assure transparency of the bidding of the Pink Line electric train.

The designing of the Khae Rai-Min Buri route is in the final stage and the bidding should start in October, he said.
He added that the format of the 34-km train is being decided - whether it would be a light or heavy rail.
The key issue now, he said, is the bidding procedure, to ensure maximum transparency. It is not finalised yet whether the ministry would first seek the train carriage supplier or a construction constractor.
He noted that whichever, quality must come first.
The proposal would be soon submitted for the Cabinet's approval.
The 34-km route is one of the projects of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA). Initial schedule is after the bidding in October, the construction contract should be signed in 2014  and the route should commence operations in 2017.
