NMG primed to tackle content management

Nation Multimedia Group will launch a content management unit this year as part of its effort to ride the digital TV wave.

The move follows NMG seeing positive advertising revenue signs with its two channels – Nation 22 and Now 26 – in the second quarter, the company’s president Duangkamol Chotana said.
Duangkamol said NMG would engage in content management by producing documentaries and broadcasting them.
The company expects revenue this year will grow 10 per cent from Bt3.06 billion last year thanks largely to a big increase in digital TV revenue. Digital TV revenue went from 22 per cent of total revenue in the first quarter to 45 per cent in the second quarter.
Duangkamol said that the net profit result this year hinged on NMG’s operation-cost management, but the company believed the operation result in the second half of the year would be better than the first half.
According to the NMG’s second-quarter filing with the Stock Exchange of Thailand, it posted a net profit of Bt5.42 million, down from Bt75.87 million year on year.
