US investors' interest lies in mega projects, policy continuation

American investors placed their interest in two major areas - mega project investment and policy continuation - during the roadshow in New York yesterday, according to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Hosted in cooperation with Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Phatra Securities, the roadshow welcomed institutional investors whose combined assets under management exceed US$4.5 trillion.
Kesara Manchusree, president of the Thai bourse, said that during the speech by Finance Minister Sommai Phasee on “Economic Policy Agenda of the New Government of Thailand", the investors showed special interest to public investment projects as well as policy continuation. Sommai briefed them on the economic policies to stimulate the economy and boost productivity, assuring them of legal amendments to support long-term development. He also asserted transparency and good governance.
Also at the "Thai Forum", Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul assured them of economic stability, greater efficiency of the Thai financial sector to support future investment. Virathai Santipraphob, a director of the State Enterprise Policy Office, highlighted procedures to boost state enterprises' efficiency.
"The exchange is convinced that the data would raise their confidence and draw more investment to Thailand," Kesara said.
The SET will host another roadshow in the US during October 27-30, in cooperation with KT Zmico Securities and Auerbach Grayson and Company LLC.
