Millennium Auto, the largest BMW dealership in Thailand, is investing Bt50 million in sales and after sales at its three showrooms in Bangkok for the futuristic BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.
Millennium Auto assistant managing director Piyathep Sivakas said the company has put together a special team of employees who have been specially trained for sales and after sales of the i8.
“Due to strong customer response for the i8, as well as the fact that we will be delivering more than 10 of the vehicles to customers by the end of this year, we are equipping customers’ homes with wall-box chargers so that they can charge their i8 batteries faster than with a conventional home AC socket. Most importantly, we have set up a BMW I Specialist team to provide advice to customers on the car and offer special services to this group of customers. The team comprises personnel from every level in sales, such as salespersons and sales advisers, who have received special training on the BMW i technologies. This will give customers the confidence that they will be well-informed about the various technological information concerning the i8 along with world-class after-sales service,” he said.
The i8 supercar boasts fuel consumption of a mere 2.1 litres per 100km, has a top speed of 120km/h and a range of 37km when driven in full-electric mode, making it a highly economical car in daily driving.
Six technicians have been trained by BMW Thailand and two after-sales managers appointed for servicing of the i8, said Aroon Samutsarn, the company’s vice president for after-sales service.
“We are preparing a mobile elevating platform, or charging station, as well as diagnostic systems. In addition, we are stocking up parts as well as special tools and equipment for repairs if needed to the car’s carbon-fibre body. This is special equipment made for plug-in hybrid vehicles,” he explained.
Millennium Auto is also staging a special event for the i8 from December 19-21 at its Rama IV branch. Apart from being able to closely check out the i8, customers will be offered special sales campaigns for other BMW models, new and used.
