GPF sees rate of return of nearly 6%

The state pension fund in the first 11 months of the year recorded a rate of return on investments of almost 6 per cent, and expects that the equity markets in Asia will remain attractive to global capital.
“As for Thailand, the stock market will still be attractive for the long term,” said Government Pension Fund secretary-general Sombat Naravuthichai.
He said the Bt704-billion GPF’s rate of return next year might be lower than this year, as many leading economies in the world such as the United States, the European Union and Japan have not yet improved significantly.
The GPF has about 60 per cent of its assets in fixed income and government bonds and 11.5 per cent in domestic shares, as well as 14 per cent in overseas stocks. The fund has about 1.2 million members.
