Pongpun Gearaviriyapun, director-general of the department, told a seminar that |many Thai enterprises could list so that they could raise more funds to support their expansion.
This year, at least 1,580 Thai enterprises will be trained and encouraged to develop their management and operations so that they can qualify for the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI).
Targeted busnesses
Businesses that the department has targeted for this project are in retail and wholesale, franchising, logistics, tourism, accounting, and assets management.
Pongpun said that with |the Asean Economic Community being fully implemented by the end of this year, Thai businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, should urgently develop themselves to be able to trade and expand overseas, starting in this region.
However, Thai SMEs may lack the experience and investment capital for such ventures, and if they could strengthen themselves, they could list on the MAI.
To this end, the department is cooperating with the MAI and the Federation of Accounting Professions to educate SMEs this year.
