DTAC 4G service embraces all of Bangkok

DTAC yesterday said it had rolled out 4G services in all districts of Bangkok and will complete 1,200 sites nationwide by the end of this month.

This is part of its Bt11-billion investment for 3G and 4G network expansion totalling 6,500 sites nationwide.

DTAC is the second mobile operator to offer 4G services. True Move H of True Corp had launched 4G services last year with 2,000 sites nationwide to cover 80 per cent of population or around 9,000 sites by this April. True claimed it has a total of 900,000 subscribers for its 4G services.

Prapaprot Puprasert, senior vice president, regional business head of DTAC, said the operator expects its 4G users to reach 1.75 million subscribers, all of them existing subscribers who have 4G handsets.

Currently, DTAC said it has around 600,000 customers for its 4G services of whom 400,000 are in Bangkok and its metropolitan areas.

"We have plans to launch a new 4G tariff package with a competitive price after our 4G network is ready," Prapaprot said.

All existing 4G customers in Bangkok and its metropolitan areas will get free trial services of 4G at 1GB speed per month for four months as part of the plan to promote its 4G services.
