Singha chairman Chamnong passes away

CHAMNONG Bhirombhakdi, chairman of Singha Corp, whose Boon Rawd Brewery Co manufactures Singha beer and other brands, passed away on Saturday at the age of 87, leaving behind the legacy of the country's oldest beer brewery.

Singha Corp was founded in 1933 by his father, Phraya Bhirombhakdi. The company has long been a market leader in the beer business. 
 
Among the richest
It now has a diversified range of interests, including in non-alcoholic beverages and property development.
Ranked as one of the country’s richest people by Forbes magazine with a net worth of over US$2 billion (Bt68 billion), Chamnong was hospitalised in January. As chairman, Chamnong played a largely ceremonial role while management was left to the company’s president, his nephew Santi Bhirombhakdi.
