Trade expo firm expects consumer fairs to rebound in six months

HOME SHOW, a travel trade and exhibition company, predicts that consumer fairs will rebound in six months, thanks to the clear vision of the government's new economic team to boost domestic consumption.

“The economic downturn and the recent bombing in Bangkok have forced people to save money and forgo travel. However, spending on trips should be seen in the last quarter of this year and over the first half of 2016,” Veraded Jitsakdanont, a director of the company, said yesterday.
The consumer fair and event business will benefit from the government’s stimulus measures, but that will likely happen about six months later when the money reaches the people, he said.
Home Show Company will organise the first multi-fair, the Thailand One Stop Shopping Expo, from October 10-18 at Impact Muang Thong Thani featuring 15 major events under one roof and covering floor space of 47,000 square metres.
They include the Home and Furniture Show; Home Materials, Housing and Property Festival; Electronic Festival; Mobile, Tablet and Camera Festival; Organic Clean Herb, Green Living and Energy Wedding Festival; Fashion, Beauty and Jewellery Festival; Baby and Family Festival; Net Idol and Social Market Fair; and others.
“With the idea of having many kinds of events at the same place, this is expected to draw various groups of buyers, sellers and consumers,” Veraded said.
More than 500 exhibitors have confirmed they will join the event. They will offer special discounts of 20-80 per cent.
Home Show Co will spend Bt30 million to promote the event in Thailand and Southeast Asia. This year’s event is expected to attract a million visitors and generate millions of baht.
“We will focus more on overseas markets this year because foreigners can see real Thai products and entrepreneurs, so both sides will have a chance for further deals,” he said.
