KTB's Vorapak named 'Thailand Business Leader'

HITACHI chairman and chief executive officer Hiroaki Nakanishi and Krungthai Bank's president and CEO, Vorapak Tanyawong, have won top awards from US-based cable-TV network CNBC for their outstanding achievements.

The awards were made at a ceremony in Bangkok on Thursday evening.
The Hitachi CEO was named “Asia Business Leader of the Year”, while Vorapak won the “Thailand Business Leader of the Year” award.
In recognition of their business foresight and acumen, vision, innovation, talent management and corporate social responsibility (CSR), CNBC also made awards to leaders of Fast Retailing Co of Japan – the owner of Uniqlo clothing stores – IHH Healthcare of Malaysia, Malayan Banking, and JG Summit Holdings of the Philippines. KC Sullivan, president and managing director of CNBC International, said the network wanted to recognise and celebrate the successes of the region’s best and inspirational leaders.
Nakanishi said: “This award would not have been possible without the support from our customers and of course the contribution and hard work of our global talented team. I am delighted that Hitachi’s business and CSR activities have been recognised as contributing positively to society, helping to improve everyday quality of life.”
Vorapak said: “Thank you for taking the deep insight review into our organisation; this prestigious award will definitely inspire us to reach our ‘three summits’ goal.”
Under a stringent, objective and transparent three-phase judging process, nominated business leaders were judged by an independent panel of management strategists, academics and CNBC executives.
The judging process consisted of a quantitative organisation data analysis, face-to-face interviews and final selection of award recipients.
The panel included CNBC’s long-time knowledge partner, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, research partner Development Dimensions International and CNBC’s senior vice president, International News & Programming, John Casey.
More than 200 business leaders and guests from Asia-Pacific attended the “14th Asia Business Leaders Awards” ceremony and “The CNBC Exchange”, presented by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau at the Siam Kempinski Hotel.
