Honda's world class eco-friendly plant opens in Thailand

Honda Automobile (Thailand) began production at its new plant in Rojana Industrial Park, Prachin Buri, which is one of Honda's most technologically advanced and most eco-friendly automobile assembly plants in Asia.

The new Honda Assembly Plant will adopt state-of-the-art production innovations being used at the Yorii Plant in Japan, which was designed with the concept of “Producing the Cleanest Products at the Cleanest Plant”.

Initially, the new plant will operate the polymer injection (PO) line to manufacture front consoles for complete assembly of Honda City and Honda Jazz models. In addition, it will soon produce polymer injection parts (CKD) to be exported to other Honda assembly plants in Asia and Oceania. The PO injection line at this plant has a production capacity of over 360,000 pieces per annum.

“In the near future, it will run full operation, including engine production and CBU assembly,” said Pitak Pruittisarikorn, chief operating officer of Honda (Thailand). “This new plant is one of the most technologically advanced and eco-friendly plants in the region. It efficiently shortens the time used in every process of production, from body welding and paint work to final assembly of the vehicles as well as introduction of recycled water system to every production process for water saving.”

This plant will operates under the Vision 2020 concept that Honda Motor (Japan) initiated in 2010 to create products with speed, affordability and low CO2 emissions. Honda researches and develops automobile technologies that ensure both quality and eco-friendliness. It also explores innovative measures to reduce CO2 emissions in order to deliver “The Joy and Freedom of Mobility” and pass on “A Sustainable Society Where People Can Enjoy Life” in accordance with Honda’s global environmental slogan of ‘Blue Skies for Our Children.
