Chai Sophonpanich regrets misconduct
Chai Sophonpanich, chairman of listed Bangkok Insurance (BKI), regretted his action that led to a Bt500,000 fine by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Yesterday, the SEC announced that it slapped the Bt500,000 fine on Chai, for revealing information on BKI's dividend share issuance to outsiders before public disclosure of the information. It said that Chai did not personally benefit from such action, and thus the minimum fine was levied.
In a statement, Chai said that he had no intention in taking advantage of shareholders or investors. The information was shared with family members as part of internal discussion. However, some members bought a small amount of BKI shares.
"I had no knowledge of the transaction. However, I regret the incident," he said.
