The Energy Policy Administration Committee resolved yesterday to cut the Oil Fund’s levy on all types of fuel oil, to maintain retail prices.
The decision followed the Cabinet’s approval on Tuesday of the increase in excise tax on fuel oil by Bt0.045 to Bt0.30 per litre.
The Oil Fund’s levy is accordingly cut to a range of Bt0.05-Bt0.25 per litre.
The decision means a Bt383-million decrease in the Oil Fund’s monthly income. It would see a monthly outflow of Bt371 million, against a monthly inflow of Bt13 million earlier.
However, the higher excise tax will generate an additional Bt800 million a month in government revenue, from Bt15.25 billion to Bt16.95 billion.
