Ministry of Energy set to showcase Thai bioenergy potential at Astana Expo 2017

THE MINISTRY of Energy is ready to show the potential of Thai bioenergy on the arena of world expo Astana Expo 2017 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as creating a Thai pavilion under the concept, “Bioenergy for All” with an aim to attract other countries to develop bioenergy for the human race.

Genereral Anantaporn Kanchanarat says, “Ministry of Energy is honoured, on behalf of Thailand, to be invited to attend International Recognised Exhibition Expo 2017 Astana or Astana Expo 2017 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan from 10 June to 10 September 2017 to show the potential of Thai energy to the world.”
“Our country has great strength in bioenergy due to the fact that Thailand is exuberant in agriculture. In order to show the country's potential in this world class event, The Ministry of Energy is well prepared to present information and understanding about Thailand’s bioenergy, as well as the information concerning agriculture that leads to the development of energy. 
“Thailand has been highly advanced in the development of bioenergy thanks to the initiatives of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the father of energy development in Thailand. 
“At present, The Ministry of Energy has adopted the late king’s ideas as guidelines to develop innovative projects as well as research and develop energy in an effort to expand Thailand's energy sectors underthe government's Energy 4.0 policy. ”
Astana Expo 2017 is held under the topic “Future Energy,” attended by over 100 countries and more than 10 world-class organisations. There are more than 100 pavilions on an area of 1,740,000 square metres (156.25 rai). Thailand has been allocated a space of 934.05 square metres. 
The kingdom is again participating in a world-class event with the world expo being one of the three world’s mega events, beside the Olympic games, and the FIFA World Cup. It is expected to draw over five million attendees. 
“The purpose of attendance of Thailand at Astana Expo 2017 is to represent the country’s on the policy of promoting the use of renewable energy to build energy stability and reduce emission of carbon dioxide, in line with the Thai culture and way of life. 
Furthermore, it is beneficial for Thailand in research and energy development, especially in the fields of bioenergy technology and tourism, which will help promoting country’s economy and tighten up Thailand’s relationship with various countries, particularly Kazakhstan,” the Minister of Energy said.

Exhibition Room 1: Showcasing the stories and images of Thailand through a “live exhibition” , creating virtual reality experience under the concept “Our ways, our Thai” to represent the Thai way of life and an overview of the country to inform participants of the country , its people, architecture, environment, exquisite natural resources, as well as our agricultural and tourism potency, considered the key factors in driving Thai economic growth, together with efficient energy development to make the best use of resources. Energy development is the key in sustaining the Thai livelihood and way of life.

Exhibition Room 2: Presenting a 3D movie theatre form, to show “Farming the Future Energy”- storytelling by a robotic energy mascot in a fun and entertaining way. The content is about the energy of the future that’s been developed from the plentiful natural resources in Thailand, as well as showcasing late King Bhumibol's initiative in bioenergy projects at the national and local levels, the support of various energy-related projects such as the Distributed Green Generation, Smart Cities Clean Energy and Biogas Network

Exhibition Room 3: Presenting in a form of “Interactive Exhibition” where everyone can participate, under the concept ‘Energy Creation Lab,’ on the nine sources of biomass and bioenergy; sugarcane, Eucalyptus, rubber tree, grass, rice, corn, dung and wastes, cassava, palm oil, as well as promoting and developing renewable energy, biomass, biogas and biofuel. All of which are essential in creating sustainable energy for Thailand, yet, still eco-friendly.
“Moreover, the Ministry of Energy is cooperating with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Commerce, The Thai Board of Investment (BOI), Tourism Authority of Thailand, Department of Community Development, The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, and PTT Public Company Limited, in its participation . The ministry is certain that the Thailand Pavilion will gain positive feedbacks, and is expected to be one of the ten most-visited pavilion in the event drawing up to 10 per cent of the total number of attendees (approximately 500,000),” says the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Energy.
Thammayot says the ministry intends to create more participation of Thai people and Thai youth by recruiting “Thailand Pavilion Ambassadors” as cultural ambassadors. Application is open to the general public and university students, age between 18-30, if they can speak Russian, Kazakh or English and are passionate and proud to present Thailand through the role of exhibition staffs at the expo. This is an opportunity for cultural exchange between Thailand and Kazakhstan, he said.
