Nescafe backs Songkran safety push with drinks campaign

NESCAFÉ is putting its campaign caravans, with the message “Nescafe Sends You Home Safely, Gain Heartful Encouragement”, behind the government’s efforts to reduce traffic accidents during the Songkran festival.

The company will collaborate with the Highway Police, the Expressway Authority of Thailand and the State Railway of Thailand.
In the campaign, Nescafe’s ready-to-drink products – the Nescafe Extra Rich in a red can and Nescafe Black Ice – will be distributed to over 200,000 drivers and passengers to refresh them at 17 locations including highway and expressway service points, bus terminals across Thailand, and the Hua Lamphong train station.
According to the Road Safety Directing Centre, during Songkran last year there 3,447 accidents, with 442 deaths and 3,656 injuries. The major risk factors were reckless driving, a lack of discipline and consideration in using public roads, as well as driver fatigue. These factors are all preventable and the government has been campaigning to reduce them.
Cruawan Varunpaichit, business executive officer for Nestlé (Thai), said that Nescafe RTD was well aware that this long holiday was an important time where were looking forward to going back home to spend time with their families.
“This is why Nescafe RTD joined together with the three main transportation organisations – the Highway Police, the Expressway Authority of Thailand, and the State Railway of Thailand – to launch the Nescare Sends You Home Safely, Gain Heartful Encouragement campaign,” Cruawan said.
“It will help reduce accidents and personal loss as people travel to visit their families or go on holidays outside the city. The campaign will also help Thais enjoy the Songkran celebration to the fullest.
“We are continuing to run the campaign for the fourth consecutive year to raise awareness about transportation safety among drivers, as well as passengers who are travelling during the festival.
“This underscores the brand concept of staying side-by-side with hardworking people who are devoted to their families. This year, the caravans will be handing out refreshing and energizing Nescafe Extra Rich, a strong and well-rounded coffee, or new Nescafe Black Ice, a low-sugar black coffee at 50 Kcal, to more than 200,000 drivers and passengers heading to their hometowns. Nescafe wants to do its part to help prevent and lower the risk of road accidents.”
The 17 locations where the drinks will be handed out are: Highway service points at Wang Noi, Wang Manow, Nong Dindaeng, Rangsit, and Thanyaburi; Expressway Service Points at Daan Bang Kaew, Bangna Km. 6, Bang Pa-In (outbound), Prachachuen, and the Motorway Rest Stop; the bus terminals of New Mo Chit, Nakhonchai Air, the Southern Bus Terminal, Nakhonsawan, Khon Kaen, and Korat; and the Hua Lamphong train station.
