The Ministry of Commerce is educating business people in Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala on e-commerce opportunities.
Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said that, previously, farmers had to sell products through middlemen.
“But we want them to start selling their own products online through applications like Facebook and Line, and help them to realise the importance of international standards and QR codes when exporting products, particularly to Asian markets like Japan or Korea,” she said.
“This will allow buyers to know the product information and acquire the link to the website or online store easily.
“The QR code is also a sign that gives consumers peace of mind concerning the product quality. This is all part of modern marketing that will lead to big jump in the development of products and services.”
The ministry has joined with Biz Club members, exporters and farmers in the tree provinces, with a goal of educating 90 people in a training course next month. The course will be held at the Pattani campus of the Prince of Songkhla University. The aim is to help at least 20 participants to start e-commerce ventures.
