Cabinet approves draft Eastern Economic Corridor law in principle

The Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed in principle the draft law governing the establishment of the special eastern economic zone, known as the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

It also asked the Council of State to add its advice into the draft and resubmit it for Cabinet consideration within one month.
The Cabinet wants to define clearer roles for the planned EEC Office and other state agencies involved in managing the special zone, in order to prevent redundant duties and any unnecessary overlap in the scope of the various authorities.
