Cambodia will not evacuate country’s migrant workers in South Korea

At the graduation ceremony of Asia Europe University, Prime Minister Hun Sen made a public appeal to the workers in South Korea and their relatives not to worry over the situation there.
“Please calm down and don’t worry over the tensions there. No war will happen, so we do not have any reason to evacuate workers there,” he said.
The government and officials are paying attention to the situation there, he said.
More than 40,000 Cambodian migrants are working in various industries in South Korea.
“The evacuation of more than 40,000 people is not an easy mission,” he said.
To calm the public down on the tensions on the Korean Peninsula, Hun Sen said he may visit there to warm up the Cambodian migrant workers in any urgent condition. – Rasmei Kampuchea

Trump likely to attend Asean Summit in Philippines: envoy
US President Donald Trump will probably be coming to the Asean Summit in the Philippines in November, the Foreign Affairs Department said on Wednesday.
Ambassador Marciano Paynor, who serves as director-general for operations on the Asean 2017 National Organising Council, said Trump had “indicated” his desire to attend the summit after his phone call with President Rodrigo Duterte last December.
“(A)s of now, President Trump, for instance, when President Duterte called him up to congratulate him, had already indicated that he was coming in November,’ Paynor said.
Duterte has said he had invited Trump to attend the Asean Summit in the country. Trump also invited Duterte to visit the White House this year.
“So at least verbally he (Trump) said he was coming,” Paynor said.
Duterte has repeatedly slammed the US for interfering in his administration’s bloody crackdown on illegal drugs.
But Duterte softened his stance against the US after Trump’s win, saying he could get along well with the new US president. – Philippine Daily Inquirer
