Allianz Ayudhya offers cancer coverage

Allianz Ayudhya offers cancer coverage

ALLIANZ Ayudhya Assurance is offering a benefit plan for cancer patients that covers all stages of the disease. The policy, marketed as “Cancer No Worries”, covers treatment from diagnosis to follow-up sessions with a maximum benefit of Bt9 million.

A campaign backing the product highlights that cancer can be cured if detected early and with quality treatment. The company aims to sell 10,000 policies by the end of this year.
Bryan Smith, president and chief executive of Allianz Ayudhya, said: “With its core customer-centric strategy, the company has focused on developing products and services to continuously meet the diverse needs of customers. We also strive to be the leader in life and health protection products based on our vision.
“Many sources of research and data collection of customer needs have been used as the |key factor when developing such an innovative product. As you may be aware, lifestyles of people, inflation of medical expenses as well as the low penetration rates of insurance among Thai people, are factors leading to the needs of a cancer product.”

The No 1 killer
Patchara Taveechaiwattana, the company’s chief market management officer, said: “According to the latest finding, cancer is the No 1 critical illness that kills Thai people. The age of patients diagnosed with cancer gets younger each year. We have found there is a lot of unclear and unconfirmed knowledge about cancer among Thai people.
“Many believe that cancer cannot be cured and may even be [dealt with by] forgoing [standard] treatment. The treatment process usually comes with a considerably high cost. This is why many people are not ready to go into the diagnosis and treatment process and, even worse, let the cancer spread until the final stage, when it’s too late.
“Therefore, this is a great opportunity for us to introduce ‘Cancer No Worries’, the first and only insurance plan that is open to treatment for any stage of cancer. It has coverage from diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and rehabilitation to mental counselling of patients and their families.”
