Tata Steel (Thailand) boosts output

Tata Steel (Thailand) on Thursday declared its financial results for the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2017 and the year to March 31.

Sales volume for the quarter at 344,000 tonnes was higher than the previous quarter by 14 per cent.

Net sales at Bt5.8 billion were higher than the previous quarter by 26 per cent. Sales volume for the fiscal year at 1,263,000 tonnes was higher than in the previous year by 10 per cent.

The company has taken one-off adjustments of Bt618 million during the fourth quarter, including a provision for impairment of MBF Asset, which remains mothballed since 2011.

Excluding the impact of one-off adjustments, the profit before tax for the quarter was Bt232 million.

EBITDA for fiscal 2017 at Bt1.7 billion was higher than the prior year by 98 per cent.
