Singapore elderly home wins National Health IT Excellence Award

Singapore-based healthcare-technology company Napier Healthcare Solutions’ premier long-term-care customer, Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home, has won a prestigious National Health IT Excellence Award for the enhanced care and productivity gains it has made through the successful implementation and use of Napier Nursing Home Solution (NHS).

The National Health IT Excellence Awards are an annual accolade that seek to honour organisations and people who have delivered excellence in healthcare services through the strategic application of information technology in their operations.
Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home administrator Then Kim Yuan was presented an award under Category F, “IT Excellence: Digitised Care to Support One Healthcare System”, by Singaporean Health Minister Gan Kim Yong in a ceremony at the National Health IT Summit in Singapore on Tuesday.
Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home went live with NHS in the middle of last year. That marked its transformation into a fully digital nursing home that meets the Singapore Health Ministry’s Enhanced Nursing Home Standards for intermediate and long-term care.
It had become one of the very few nursing homes in Singapore on such modern technology leveraging the benefits of the cloud and mobility.
“We are indeed honoured, and I would like to thank the distinguished panel of judges who reviewed our initiative and awarded us the IT Excellence Award. I would also like to thank my staff at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home and our partner, Napier Healthcare Solutions, for all their hard work in making this system work for us,” Then said.
“NHS encourages greater efficiencies and facilitates decision-making. Since we launched the program, we achieved significant operational savings of 14.3 man-hours equivalent to 178.75 Singapore dollars per month per nurse on medication administration, and 46 man-hours per resident to process admission of referrals through integration with the national Integrated Referral Management System and ILTC Portal system.
“At the end of the day, improving our residents’ well-being is at the heart of what we do.”
Tirupathi Karthik, chief executive of Napier Healthcare Solutions, said: “Congratulations to Mr Then for this richly deserved award.
“We are delighted that Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home has derived substantial efficiency gains and an elevation of [its] care quality since implementing NHS. We also look forward to further collaboration between our two organisations as we extend NHS to operations at its second facility at Silat Avenue and continue to raise the standards of eldercare together for years to come.”
Napier Nursing Home Solution is a highly scalable and robust Web-based system that meets all the automation requirements of all parties in the nursing and home-care provision environment, Napier says. These include access to real-time and complete clinical information, resident assessments, preparation of case summaries and consolidation of services during billing.
The company claims NHS has a proven track record of delivering major productivity gains immediately after implementation, including reductions of 30 to 90 per cent in turnaround time on processes such as billing, admissions, referrals and medication administration.
