CSR Asia Summit to focus on future-proofing businesses

CSR Asia Summit to focus on future-proofing businesses

The CSR Asia Summit 2017 will return to Bangkok this September and will focus on future-proofing sustainable business – a crucial topic for many businesses in today’s unpredictable world – organisers said.

The summit will take place on September 26 and 27 at The Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok.
It will feature more than 80 speakers including C-suite executives from private organisations, government officials, academics and think tanks from Adidas, CARE, Singtel, CLP Holdings, Ocean Recovery Alliance, Global Child Forum, CDL, H&M, IBM, Shell, Unilever, Unicef, Visa and GRI.
Dr Richard Welford Chairman and founder of CSR Asia said: “The key to staying in business in the long run is innovation and risk management.
“Many organisations have elements of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk management in place. But, they are often not as robust as they need to be to deal with risks that are unpredictable. Many strategies focus on looking at past risks, rather than predicting future possible risks.”
To tackle this issue, Welford reminds companies they need to take a much broader perspective to risk, moving from being reactive and compliance-driven to being proactive and predictive.
“To effectively future-proof an organisation an approach is needed that can anticipate ESG risks and at the same time build innovation structures.”
Within this overall theme of future-proofing, the two-day Summit has 20 individual session topics focused around current and emerging issues, all of which strongly impact Thailand.
Development and use of technology in Community Investment, unlocking the value of corporate sustainability and human trafficking and child rights will also be part of this year’s programme.
