Spending spree on mothers tipped to top Bt13 bn

Spending spree on mothers tipped to top Bt13 bn

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting forecasts Bt13.06 billion will be spent for Mothers Day, reflecting higher incomes in line with an improving economy.

Based on the centre's survey, spending on the day of this year is expected to rise 2.7 per cent year on year.
Some 67.7 per cent of the respondents surveyed said they would spend more on the day than they did last year, given their higher incomes and their expectations for continued economic improvements. Some 12.6 per cent said their spending would be the same as last year, the survey said.
But 19.7 per cent would spend less as they wanted to save money as a result of lower income and an aversion to spending while they had yet to feel the benefits of current economic trends, the survey noted.
