Warehouse tech seen growing

THAILAND’S “intelligent warehouses” are expected to expand between three per cent and five per cent per year, according to Sarawut Laoprasert, president of Thailand’s Intralogistics Providers Club.

The sector is an investment in the future and will expand in line with industrial growth, Sarawut added.
The club estimates that Thailand’s market value of intelligent warehouses, which monitor inventories and the inflow/outflow of stocks online, is about Bt30 billion per annum.
Sarawut said that the global market in digital management systems had expanded rapidly, in line with the double-digit growth of the e-commerce sector, cloud technology, the ability to transfer high data volumes online, and what is known as “The Internet of Things” in which machines are linked to each other.
“Intelligent warehouses are a tool for businesses to grow and survive,” said Sarawut. “Whoever can deliver and respond to buyers faster will win and multiply their revenues.”
One of the intelligent warehouse categories with great potential, he said, was the warehouse automation system, in which almost all of the tasks can be performed automatically by robots.
He also urged companies in the agriculture, food and beverage, automobiles and retail sectors to make use of these automation and robotics systems to support their logistics operations. The Intralogistics Providers Club and trade fair organiser Expolink Global Network will co-host the “Intelligent Warehouse 2017” fair from August 22-25 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.
The fair, which will showcase advanced warehouse technology, aims to educate Thai business operators on technology which can help them cut their warehouse management costs.
Expolink managing director Phusit says Thailand's logistics market continues to grow 7.5 per cent every year, with an approximate current market value of Bt385 billion.
About 40 exhibitors will attend next week’s fair, including SSI Schaefer Systems International Co Ltd, Great Asia Corporation Company Limited, Interroll (Thailand) Co,Ltd, Jungheinrich Lift Truck Ltd, Sunstream Industries Ptd Ltd, and LOSCAM ( Thailand ) Co.
Organisers expect more than 6,000 visitors to attend.
