Ageing populations a boon to business, says Deloitte
Asians over 65 are the largest- and fastest-growing market in the world, Deloitte says in the third edition of its “Voice of Asia” analysis series, released on Tuesday.
The number of people in Asia age 65 and up will grow from 365 million this year to more than 520 million in 2027, it says.
While this creates challenges for ageing nations, ageing populations will also generate “a growth cluster of new business opportunities”, it says.
“Ageing populations may well be challenging to some nations, but they will also present some incredible business opportunities within those same nations,” said Chris Richardson, Deloitte’s Australia economist.
“Our analysis shows that ageing will produce some very large winners at the industry level, particularly in Asia.”
