Consumer mood rises for second month

Thailand's Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose for a second straight month in September on expectations for an improving economy, in line with a likely recovery in exports and tourism in the second half of this year.

Other support factors include the government's investment in the second half and the eased concerns of most consumers on the political situation.
Last month's CCI advanced to 75, but stayed below 100, reflecting lingering concerns about the durability of the economic recovery. Some are still worried over the uncertainties with the global economy, and over the low prices of crops, particularly for rice, rubber, tapioca, corn and oil palm.
