Thai exports continued to grow in September, contributing to a 9.3-per cent growth for the first 9 months, thanks to some recovery in the global economy as well as favourable consumer product and electronics prices, according to Kasikorn Research.
September exports grew by 12.2 per cent, with major contributors being gold, oil-based products and electronics like computers and components. Without gold and oil-based products, Thai exports in September would have grown by just 6.9 per cent, Kasikorn Research said.
It added that growth is expected to slow down during Q4 compared to the first three quarters in which it gained 9.3 per cent. However, due to sizeable gold exports, total Thai exports for 2017 may grow by 7.0 per cent compared to the previous year, it added.
