Bosch opens ‘mobility solutions’ factory in Rayong
Bosch has officially opened its third manufacturing plant in Thailand at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Rayong. The factory is now gearing up production of a diverse range of mobility solutions products and technologies such as components for gasoline and diesel engines, electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) drives, and fuel cells for the local and global market.
The company said it invested more than Bt3.2 billion in the new facility of 10,000 square metres of floor space. The plant is 130 kilometres east of Bangkok.
The new manufacturing plant was inaugurated by Jan Scheer, deputy of mission and head of economic affairs, at the German Embassy in Bangkok, Stefan Seiberth, president of gasoline systems, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Martin Hayes, president at Robert Bosch SEA.
“The opening of our new plant enables us to serve the growing base of local and global original vehicle equipment manufacturers (OEM) and technologically positions us at the forefront of the industry,” said Seiberth. “This is our first research and development facility in the country, thus underlining Thailand’s role and strategic importance for the Bosch Group in alignment with the country’s strategic direction moving towards the value-based economy.”
Hayes added: “Our investment in the country is also in support of Thailand’s strong focus on promoting advanced technologies and expertise to boost the country’s competitive edge in the long run. Thailand will now host the latest, and one of our most modern, production facilities, and I am looking forward to all the innovations and developments that will come from it.”
