Polish city woos more Thai investments

LODZ, Poland creates an open opportunity for foreign investors to expand their holdings in hospitality, green industry, science, technology, and education by holding 100 per cent of the business in the city, said Mayor Hanna Zdanowska, at a group interview with Thai reporters at Vienna House Andel’s Lodz hotel recently.

“We welcome Thai investors to expand their investment in the hotel business in our city and also suggest they expand their investment more with the strong growth of the hotel industry in the city. Most foreign investors expand their investments in our city, especially green industries,” she said.
Zdanowska said the city’s concept of focusing on developing green industry and technology has seen foreign investors from both Europe and Asia expand their investment in Lodz.
“Most of them invest in science, technology, logistics, education, and entertainment. They come from France, Germany, Japan, and South Korea,” she said.
The investment in Vienna House Andel’s Lodz by a Thai investor is the first time an investor from Thailand has expanded in Lodz.
“We hope that will inspire Thai people to learn about our city and decide to visit. Architects have designed may buildings in the city since 1970. They have unique designs and provide more destinations for tourists to visit,” Zdanowska said.
Kavin Kanjanapas, CEO of BTS Group Holdings Plc, said that Vienna House Andel’s Lodz is one of biggest hotel conference centres in Central Europe. The hotel has 16 meeting rooms, including the 1,300-square-metre glass-enclosed ballroom, that offer capacity for up to 1,500 people.
The building has been remodelled from its origins as a garment manufacturer with unique designs and received the international Modern Luxury Hotel Award for 2017 from LTG Luxury Travel Guide.
“This is the first time we have expanded our investment in Europe and will expand more when we have the business opportunity,” Kavin said.
