POVERTY-RELIEF PLANS HEAD FOR CABINET

POVERTY-RELIEF PLANS HEAD FOR CABINET

The Finance Ministry will put forward the second phase of a measure to improve the livelihoods of low-income earners to the Cabinet for consideration next month.

Finance minister Apisak Tantivorawong said that the measure would include skills training for those earning less than Bt30,000 a year. This would help such people to increase their income, with a view to them earning more than Bt30,000 a year.
Up to 30 per cent of the five million low-income earners who registered with the government reported annual income of less Bt30,000.
The minister said he expected the private sector would expand its investments in 2018, helping the country to achieve economic growth of more than 4 per cent.
