Tax breaks for travellers to 55 provinces

Tax breaks for travellers to 55 provinces

Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to give tax breaks to Thai travellers who visit less-popular domestic destinations, said Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong

Each person or corporation can receive a tax deduction of up to Bt15,000 on his or her spending on tour packages, accommodation, transport, food or buying local products.
It will be effective from January 1 to December 31 next year, but travellers will have to ask for receipts from vendors to qualify for the deduction.
The aim of the tax break is to increase the incomes of people in less-popular tourist destinations covering 55 provinces.
These include Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Chaing Rai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchabun, Ratchaburi, Chanthaburi, Ubon Ratchathani, Loei and Nong Khai.
