Bond issuance may be below Bt800bn this year if policy rate rises: ThaiBMA
The Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA) on Monday forecast that new bond issuance this year might not exceed the Bt800-billion level achieved in 2017.
Last year’s figure turned out to be well above the Bt700 billion predicted by the association at the start of the year.
ThaiBMA deputy managing director Ariya Tiranaprakij said the private sector had issued more debentures than expected during 2017, as a result of the policy interest rate being maintained.
However, the private sector could issue a lower level, close to Bt800 billion, this year as there have been signals that the policy rate will increase in the second half, she added.
