RS looks to an exciting year

2018 WILL BE an exciting and challenging year with many turning points at RS, thanks to its health and beauty business’s record-breaking growth, said CEO Surachai Chetchotisak.

“Sales of our health and beauty business has continued to reach a new high every month, with a higher margin than our competitors,” he said.
Surachai said that RS targeted its total revenue for 2018 to reach Bt5.3 billion, up nearly 30 per cent over last year, and will be the highest in the company’s history. Of that number, 47 per cent will come from health and beauty business, 46 per cent from media, 5 per cent from music and 2 per cent from events.
“After the business transformation, RS is now going forward with the concept “Beyond the Limit”. The company will tackle new business opportunities, based on its existing flagship businesses such as Life Star, Channel 8, COOL, music and satellite TV, synergiszing them in a unique business model to support and strengthen all of its businesses,” he said.
“H&B business will show the highest growth for this year. Currently, the health and beauty business shows a bright future as Thai people are paying more attention to their health and beauty. Moreover, the Thai economy is showing signs of recovery and consumer demand will grow,” said Surachai.
He said that, meanwhile, Channel 8 expects to generate Bt2 billion in revenue this year, thanks to its ‘Primetime Focus’ strategy, which means it will focus on the After 6 am/pm time slots, using its #1 news programs with the concept “easy words, easy to watch, easy to understand”. Its boxing programmes, both Thai and international, will attract sport fans, while Bollywood series Wallop Maharaja and Legend of Ganesha will be added to the list.
“More than 10 new dramas are lined up, featuring magnetic actors and actresses. A new show, Game Riang Ber, offers a chance to win a million baht every day, targeting families. Next year, the eyeball will reach 700,000 per minute, and to increase its advertising rate by 40-45 per cent, resulting in its revenue exceeding Bt2 billion.
Marketing activities will be organised to add liveliness to the market in every region. Meanwhile, the channel will actively broaden its viewership base using online platforms such as Facebook Live feature,” said Surachai.
He said that Channel 8’s strategy is Prime Time Focus, as it invests in premium contents from Thailand and overseas to be aired during prime time slots at 6am-9am and 6pm-11.30pm.
The goal is to increase viewership throughout the year. Initially, it has secured famous Bollywood series while still continuing with the popular Hanumaan, Wallop Maharaja and Legend of Ganesha from India.
Its news contents are still going strong, offering news in all categories - politics, economy, sports, entertainment, and social issues, with a goal to stay at the top among new players under the concept “easy words, easy to watch, easy to understand” with highlight programmes such as Khui Khao Chao, Pak Thong Tong Ru, Khao Den, Khui Khao Yen, Khui Khao Kham and hourly news.
