The agency has teamed up with partners to develop a million-strong |e-commerce workforce and create online platforms for up to 200,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by the end of this year.
ETDA executive director Surangkana Wayuparb said the |e-commerce market is projected to expand by 12 per cent in value this year to reach the Bt3.2 trillion mark, from Bt3 trillion in 2018.
The main drivers of the market this year will be a growing trend among Thai consumers to order products online, the partial shift to online sales among traditional businesses as well as the entry of international |e-commerce players into Thailand.
To push the growth of e-commerce in Thailand, the agency has partnered with Srinakharinwirot University to set up the e-Commerce Park as a hub for knowledge exchange and business networking, aimed at leveraging the competitive advantage of businesses with international standard in support of the industry.
The collaboration also created the Young Talent platform, which is the centre of the e-commerce ecosystem providing services such as business consulting, business matching, e-learning and online media that are connected to the e-marketplace. It services also include business registration, e-payment and online marketing to foster the growth of SMEs.
She said the collaboration aims to develop an 8 million-strong |e-commerce workforce and help over 1.6 million SMEs in 2022.
