GREEN LIGHT FOR SRT PROJECT
The Cabinet yesterday approved State Railway of Thailand’s plan to develop a rail system running from Taling Chan to Siriraj with an investment budget of Bt6.6 billion.
SRT expects the project to become operational in 2022, Nattaporn Jatusripitak, spokesperson for the deputy prime minister in charge of economic affairs said after the Cabinet meeting yesterday.
The cabinet also instructed the Finance Ministry to prepare extra funding for the project. Under the existing budget, Bt2.9 billion will be spent on construction and Bt3.7 billion on the electricity system and train purchases, he said.
