Bangkok Airways announces profits of over Bt500m in Q1

Bangkok Airways Public Co Ltd has announced revenues of Bt7.8 billion in the first quarter of this year, with net profits at Bt510.8 million.

“In the first quarter, the net profit was Bt510.8 million, of which profits for the company’s equity holders was Bt504.3 million. Earnings per share equalled to Bt0.24. The total number of passengers in the first quarter was 1.73 million passengers and the passenger load factor was 74.6 per cent. Of the passengers, most were from Europe at 25 per cent, from Thailand at 23 per cent and in Asia excluding Thailand 20 per cent,” Bangkok Airway’s president Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth said. 
“In February, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand approved the renewal of the company’s Airport Operator Licence. The licence is valid for 10 years. In March 2019, Bangkok Air Aviation Training Centre Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Bangkok Airways, signed a partnership with International Air Transport Association [IATA] on the establishment of IATA Regional Aviation Training Partner in Bangkok. 
In addition, Bangkok Airways has joined hands with BTS Group Holding Public Co Ltd and Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction Public Co Ltd and submitted the proposal under ‘BBS Joint Venture’ for a bid for the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Aviation City Development project to the Royal Thai Navy,” he said.
“In the first quarter, Bangkok Airways launched new non-stop flight services on Bangkok-Cam Ranh [Vietnam] route with four flights per week and Chiang Mai-Krabi [one way] with three flights per week. Additionally, the airline increased its frequency on several routes such as the Bangkok-Danang [Vietnam] route from seven flights weekly to 14 flights, and Bangkok-Mandalay [Myanmar] from 11 flights to 14 a week to facilitate passengers and code-share partners,” Puttipong added.
