AOT board to consider next month result of bid to construct third Suvarnabhumi runway

Airports of Thailand (AOT) is expected to submit the result of the bidding for the construction of the third runway at Suvarnabhumi Airport to its board for consideration next month, AOT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said on Tuesday.

He added that he was already informed about the name of the winning bidder for the Bt21.8-billion project.

The construction of the third runway is expected to take 35 months to complete.

E-bidding for the project began on March 6 with the median price set at Bt10.413 billion. Twelve companies picked up the documents but only three submitted bids. A consortium led by Nawarat Patanakarn proposed the lowest price of Bt9.713 billion.

Regarding the planned construction of the second terminal at the airport, he said the plan had been submitted for consideration to the National Economic and Social Development Council.
