The price of gold rose by Bt350 per baht weight in morning trade today (April 7), the Gold Traders Association reported.

As of 9.25am, the buying price of gold bar was Bt25,450 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,650, while gold ornaments cost Bt24,998.84 and Bt26,150, respectively.

The prices increased from Monday’s close, when a gold bar cost Bt25,100 to buy and Bt25,300 to sell, with gold ornaments being priced at Bt24,650.16 and Bt25,800, respectively.

Comex futures gold contracts to be delivered in June rose by 3.9 per cent, closing at US$1,711 (Bt56,160.30) per ounce on Monday as investors were still worried about the Covid-19 situation.

Meanwhile, the stock market rebounded after falling at Friday’s close as investors felt relief over news that the number of Covid-19 patients and deaths in the US and Europe slowed.

However, US President Donald Trump warned Americans to prepare for the most horrible week, especially in terms of the death toll. The US currently has the most Covid-19 patients in the world, with 337,646 people infected and 9,648 killed. Statistics showed 17,582 have recovered.
