Gold edges up as investors return to risk assets
Gold prices rose by Bt100 per baht weight in morning trade on Wednesday (April 8), the Gold Traders Association reported.
As of 9.31am, buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,200 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,400, while buying price of gold ornaments was Bt24,741.12 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,900.
At close on Tuesday (April 7), the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,100 and selling price Bt25,300, while the buying price of gold ornaments was Bt24,650.16 and selling price Bt25,800.
Gold prices on the Gold Spot Index this morning dropped to US$1,648 (Bt54,094) per ounce after the price increased by $10.2 to $1,683.7 (Bt55,258) per ounce at Tuesday’s close as investors turned to buy risk assets after the US Dow Jones Index rose sharply before falling in the end of trade due to the decline in oil prices.
Meanwhile, the price in the Hong Kong gold market dropped by HK$90 to $15,210 (Bt64,393) per tael.
