Gold slides amid hopes of improvement in Covid-19 situation
Gold prices dropped by Bt50 per baht weight in morning trade on Thursday (April 9), the Gold Traders Association reported.
As of 9.30am, buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,150 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,350, while buying price of gold ornaments was Bt24,695.64 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,850.
At close on Wednesday (April 8), the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,200 and selling price Bt25,400, while the buying price of gold ornaments was Bt24,741.12 and selling price Bt25,900.
Gold prices on the Gold Spot Index on Thursday morning dropped to US$1,648 (Bt54,090) per ounce after the price increased by 60 cents to $1,684.3 (Bt55,230) per ounce at Wednesday’s close as the market is still monitoring the Covid-19 outbreak after US officials expected the situation to improve after this week.
Meanwhile, the price in the Hong Kong gold market dropped by HK$40 to $15,230 (Bt64,430) per tael.
