PTTEP develops and distributes negative pressure equipment for medics

PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) and its partners have developed negative pressure equipment for the transfer of patients and mobile negative pressure boxes to ensure the safety of medical personnel.

Phongsathorn Thavisin, CEO and president of PTTEP, presented 100 pieces of negative transfer equipment and 90 negative pressure boxes to Prof Dr Suraphol Nitikraipoj, chairperson of the Navamindradhiraj University. Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was also present at the ceremony.
The university’s Faculty of Medicine, Vajira Hospital, will distribute the equipment to hospitals in Bangkok and in provinces where PTTEP operates.
The negative patient transfer equipment, designed in collaboration with AI Robotics Ventures and AI Technology Co, feature a negative pressure generator that incorporates High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter and UV-C disinfection technology. The equipment is now being mass produced locally, which makes it possible to provide protection for a larger number of hospitals in the country. The efficiency of the patient transfer equipment and the mobile negative pressure boxes has been tested and found to meet international standards.
The first lot of equipment handed out has cost PTTEP Bt14.5 million in total.
“PTTEP gives importance to controlling the spread of Covid-19 and we salute all medical professionals for their devotion to treating patients. PTTEP and our partners vow to be part of the mission to fight the virus. We are delighted to be able to apply our energy-searching knowledge and technology in helping society. The negative pressure patient transfer equipment and mobile negative pressure boxes signify our efforts in protecting and helping medical professionals in the fight against Covid-19,” Phongsathorn said.
Apart from providing the negative pressure equipment, PTTEP has also earmarked Bt30 million as funding for educational institutions and hospitals. The funding will cover Chulalongkorn University’s production of Covid-19 strip tests, the development of diagnostic test kits by the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology, the purchase of an ambulance and ventilator for Thammasat University’s field hospital, the purchase of alcohol for Chulalongkorn University’s production of hand-sanitising gel for public consumption, the distribution of face masks through the Chatuchak District Office, and the delivery of personal protective equipment and N95 masks to hospitals.
