Gold price rises on Thursday morning
The price of gold rose by Bt200 per baht weight in morning trade on Thursday (April 16), the Gold Traders Association reported.
As of 9.35, the purchase price of gold bar was Bt26,000 per baht weight while and sale price was Bt26,200, while the purchasing price of gold ornaments was Bt25,529.44 per baht weight and the sale price Bt26,700.
The prices increased from Wednesday’s close (April 15) when a gold bar cost Bt25,800 to buy and Bt26,000 to sell, while gold ornaments cost Bt25,332.36 and Bt26,500 respectively.
Gold prices on the Gold Spot Index this morning hovered at around US$1,715 (Bt56,102) per ounce after the price fell by $28.6 to $1,740.2 per ounce at Wednesday’s close due to the strengthening dollar.
Meanwhile, investors sold gold to take profits after the gold price rose to its highest in seven years at the beginning of this week.
The price on the Hong Kong gold market rose by HK$30 to $15,880 (Bt67,021) per tael.
